April Ross
April Ross was one of the few female beach volleyball athletes who earned medals in multiple Olympics. Ross will compete in Tokyo to compete for her third Olympic medal alongside Alix Klineman, a first time Olympian. Ross aims to earn the Olympic the first medal of gold, but she is also aiming to win more. At 39 she could have her last shot. Nevertheless she is confident that top honors are firmly within reach. If we perform at our very top or do well, I believe we can get that gold medal Ross stated on NBC Boston. Additionally, I'm going to rely on a bit of luck. Ross was born in California in the city of Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area along with her parents and sister. Apart from competing in various sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. Apart from the indoor game, she also played basketball and jogged track in her pre-college days. But she clearly was an edge over the other players in this latter game. In her college profile, she played outside of the hitter middle blocker, as well as a setter in her volleyball playing career in high school. Her achievements were rewarded by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Player of the Year. She also won the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in volleyball. Ross has been working with Klineman from 2017, but Ross's beach game was established well before the year. She's won big tournaments twice with different partners. The other has become an icon of the volleyball world. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 until 2013. She also worked with Klineman as well as herself. Together together with Kessy Ross was awarded a World Title in 2009 while competing internationally. In 2012, the duo took silver in London's Olympic Games. They were knocked out of the gold medal by the legendary team comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate after Maytreanor's retirement. They both won bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross played for the USC Trojans in college years after she graduated the high school she attended. Her career was a success in the college. As a freshman in 2000 she played her way to Pac-10 as well as NCAA The Freshman of the Year honors and was also an All-American. Her performance also assisted in helping the Trojans reach the Final Four. During her sophomore year she was devastated by a personal loss but still managed to make it back as an All-American. In her two final years with the Trojans she was instrumental in helping them achieve consecutive championships. Her individual achievements have cemented her place as a legendary volleyball player. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross majored in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross wasn't able to witness her daughter's rise to the beach volleyball spotlight. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross had just become sophomore at USC. But, she will always hold her lost parent near and dear. Margie is an inspiration both on and off of the shore.
